In addition, more than 150 PhD students have attended the Academy over the past years. The participants come from institutions such as University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, KTH Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm, University of Queensland, MIT, University of Sao Paolo, Stanford University, Technical University of Munich and Tsinghua University.
“The academy was inspiration to all of us and helped guide our future research plans. As a group, we questioned and brainstormed strategies, approaches and challenges of integrating sustainability in everyday practices, technologies, economies and policies. All of us enjoyed the beauty of the mountainous Swiss city of Appenzell, known for its cheese, breweries, music, colourful costumes and direct democracy experience”, says Monica Rut who participated in the PhD academy in 2018.
