David Pfeffer joined Prof. Volker Hoffmann's Group for Sustainability and Technology in August 2022 as a PhD candidate on plastics recycling and circular economy. At SusTec David will be working on the EU Horizon project “INCREACE”. The project brings together different partners and tries to find solutions to increase the uptake of recycled plastics in value-added electronic products. David is particularly interested in how economics, economic policies and regulation can foster the transition towards a more circular plastic industry.

David holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and Development (M.Sc.) from the Download Paris School of Economics and a double bachelor’s degree in Economics (B.Sc.) and Philosophy (B.A.) from the Download Ludwig-Maximilian-University of Munich. During his studies David focused on the design, analysis, and empirical evaluation of public policies. For his master thesis, he investigated potential cost-efficiencies in the market design of the municipal solid waste sector in Portugal.

David gathered applied research experience during his internships at the Download Group for Economics of Human Behavior at the Paris School of Economics and the Download Ifo Institute for Economic Research, where he was responsible for data preparation, analysis, and visualization.

In his leisure time David loves to do all sorts of sports, such as swimming, football, or hiking. He is also always up to discover the concert and cinema life of Zurich!
