Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) involves capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it durably on land, in the ocean, in geological formations or in products. Carbon removal methods involve regenerative agriculture, Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS), biochar, and Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS).

SusTec’s research covers critical aspects of the CDR innovation process, including monitoring CDR inventions, mapping CDR startup ecosystems and investigating monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) schemes.

Key activities:

  • Monitoring CDR inventions leveraging natural language processing
  • Mapping CDR startup ecosystems
  • Investigating the quality of monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) schemes
