Prof. Dr. Ann-Kristin Zobel

azobel

Ann-Kristin is Associate Professor for Management at the University of St. Gallen. Her research focuses on how firms transform from a traditionally closed innovation model to a model of open innovation that increasingly integrates external sources of innovation and paths to markets. This new model of open innovation is particularly relevant in the renewable energy sector, in which innovation is becoming increasingly distributed and requires a collective effort from different institutions in an innovation ecosystem. In this context, Ann-Kristin’s research investigates value creation and value capture strategies, including dynamic capabilities & processes, the strategic management of intellectual property as well as the structure and design of innovation ecosystems.

Ann-Kristin holds a Bachelor’s degree in ‘International Business’ and a Master’s degree in ‘Business Research’ from Maastricht University. She received her Ph.D. from the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, in 2013. During her studies, Ann-Kristin spent time at Simon Fraser University (Vancouver, Canada) and the University of California, Berkeley (USA).

Prior to joining SusTec, Ann-Kristin worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Business Innovation, Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley, under the supervision of Professor Henry Chesbrough.
