SusTec is a key partner in the Innosuisse Flagship on digital and circular construction

SWIRCULAR, a five-year Flagship supported by Innosuisse, focuses on accelerating the use and interlinkage of digitalization and circular economy in the Swiss construction sector. SusTec will co-lead a work package together with the Berner Fachhochschule.

SusTec explores and quantifies how value flows (such as money, information, physical resources) change through digital and circular innovations created within in the Flagship. This concerns, for example, exploring the value added to the industry through digitalized ‘matchmaking tools’ which are intended to enable a systematic and organized way of connecting stakeholders in demand of circular building resources to available material and component supply. As part of its in-depth studies of selected Flagship innovations, SusTec will investigate how these innovative solutions would affect actors in the construction sector and the broader stakeholder ecosystem, regarding patterns of involvement, interaction, and coordination over the different phases of construction projects, from design to completion and maintenance.
Additionally, SusTec will support the project demonstrator wherein actionable results are made tangible and which facilitates knowledge exchange with the public and the different stakeholders in the construction ecosystem.

The planned start of SWIRCULAR is February 2024, and SusTec will commence its research activities as part of this Flagship supported by Innosuisse in the summer of 2024.
