Anna Kulakovskaya

Anna joined Prof. Volker Hoffmann’s Group for Sustainability and Technology in September 2019 as a PhD candidate on Circular Economy. In her research, Anna focused on the methodology for comparing various strategies for closing material loops at a value chain level.


Anna holds a MSc in Climate Sciences with a special qualification in Economics from the Download University of Bern and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Download Higher School of Economics (HSE), Moscow, where she specialized in Environmental Economics and Politics. Before joining SusTec, Anna gained professional experience at Download Swiss Re in Zurich and Munich, where she conducted a consumer research project in the field of natural hazards. During her undergraduate studies she gained experience in academia by working as a teaching assistant (“Environmental Economics and Politics” and “Global Issues: Climate, Water, and Food Supply”) at Download HSE Moscow.

Anna received the Oeschger Young Scientist Prize from the Oeschger Centre of Climate Change Research (2018), the Master Grant from the Faculty of Science of the University of Bern (2016-2018), Increased State Academic Scholarships from HSE (2015), and scholarships from Climate-KIC (2017) and the DAAD (2015).
