SusTec’s Corporate Sustainability lecture among the KITE Award finalists
The SusTec' Corporate Sustainability lecture participated in the finals of this years KITE award 2018. In total, 27 teaching concepts from every department of the University were submitted. Four were shortlisted – among them the Corporate Sustainability lecture.
KITE stands for “Key Innovation in Teaching at ETH”. The selection committee evaluated all submissions in a two-round process considering the criteria of “innovativeness”, “effectiveness” and “sustainability”. The committee was chaired by Professor Nicolas Gruber (D-USYS), and included members of the ETH Lecturer’s Conference (KdL), representatives of ETH research assistants and students, as well as internal and external teaching experts.
The jury appraisal highlighted the Download Corporate Sustainability course and the lecture’s practical focus and the effort to apply critical thinking: "Volker Hoffmann doesn't just teach theoretical concepts surrounding sustainability in his Corporate Sustainability course: using interactive videos and e-modules, along with the six-sentence argument (6SA) method, he encourages students to reflect critically and put what they’ve learned into practice. In the second half of the semester, the students work in small, coached groups to draft consulting strategies, prepare debates and develop economic models based on example companies."
The award was given to three lecturers from the Department of Computer Science (D-INFK): Lukas Fässler, Markus Dahinden and David Sichau for their Download e-tutorials.
