Christof Knoeri is a senior researcher in the Group for Sustainability and Technology (SusTec) at the Department of Management, Technology and Economics of ETH Zurich.

In his research Christof’s studies the complex interplay or co-evolution of technologies, business strategies, user practices, ecosystems, and institutional settings. A focus is on how emerging technologies contribute to sustainable transitions in socio-technical systems. Christof works with a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods with a particular focus on socio-technical modelling techniques such as agent-based modelling. In his recent research he addressed the adoption of new technologies and value propositions in the built environment and energy sector.

Prior to joining SusTec, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Sustainability Research Group, at the Download University of Leeds, UK, and as a guest lecturer at the Download Department of Geography at the LMU University of Munich Germany, and at the Download Institute of System Sciences, Innovation and Sustainability Research at the University of Graz, Austria.

Christof holds a PhD in Geography from University of Zurich and an MSc in Environmental Science from ETH Zurich. During his studies, Christof worked as a research assistant at the Life-Cycle Assessment and Modelling Group at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, EMPA; and as a guest researcher at Energy & Industry Section at TU Delft.
