Double Trouble: Latest Sustec PhD Dissertation wins two Awards

We congratulate Dr. Julian Kölbel, who defended his thesis in January, for winning two prestigious awards with his dissertation: Sustainability and Risk: The Role of Stakeholders.

His work was honored on the one hand with the Zurich Dissertation Prize, which is awarded by the Zurich insurance company for outstanding doctoral theses in the area of risk. On the other hand, his dissertation was recognized as the runner-up for the dissertation award of the Academy of Management subdivision for Download Organizations and the Natural Environment (ONE). The thesis examines quantitatively how and to what extent sustainability problems, such as climate change, translate into financial risk for firms via their stakeholders.

Julian will continue his research in Boston at the Download MIT Sloan School of Management, specializing on water resources and risk.
