Dr. Jan Ossenbrink
Jan investigated the effect of policies in the energy sector, with a focus on organizational learning in the utility industry and technological innovation in the domain of distributed energy resources.
In 2016, he spent the summer as a visiting researcher at the Sustainable Energy Initiative at Stanford Graduate School of Businees in California (USA) where he investigated the effect of energy policy on the role of distributed energy resources.
Jan holds a Doctor of Science degree from ETH Zurich, and MSc and BSc degrees in Business Administration and Electrical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University (Germany). Besides his studies Jan gained practical experience in internships at GE Energy in Frankfurt (Germany), PwC Energy Advisory in Duesseldorf (Germany), Miele Pte Ltd (Singapore), and Miele Hong Kong Ltd (Hong Kong).
For two years, Jan was a research assistant at the Chair of Business Administration and Finance at RWTH Aachen. His research project on Cultural Finance conducted at RWTH Aachen was awarded an Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) scholarship. In his Master thesis at SusTec in 2012, Jan elaborated on the technological development trajectories of wind energy and solar PV via patent networks, an analysis which was awarded the SAEE student award 2014.
During his studies, Jan held a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation. His visiting research at ETH Zurich was supported by an IDEA League research grant.
